What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver FT - Warehouse position at VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA MICHIGAN INC?
SUMMARY
The Driver will pick up sellable donations from private residences and various locations and will distribute the goods between the resale thrift stores and the warehouse. The Driver will also perform general responsibilities and labor at the warehouse.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Accomplish pick-ups and deliveries according to schedule
- Prepare and follow least time routes for multiple addresses
- Load household items securely to avoid breakage during transit
- Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Support customer relationships
- Troubleshoot customer service problems arising from changing priorities
- Resolve customer service issues alone or with supervisory help
- Perform general labor at the warehouse
- Interact with stores to keep up stock and to remove trash and non-sellable clothing removal
- Do routine maintenance on all trucks and warehouse equipment
- Have a general understanding of mechanics incase of breakdowns.
RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain compliance with VOA Michigan policies and procedures
- Ensure that all duties are carried out in a timely and orderly fashion so that VOA Michigan functions in the most efficient manner possible
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES
- Valid Michigan Chauffeur’s License preferred, DOT physical card and clean driving record that meets insurability requirements
- Ability to meet the requirements of MIOSHA standards including physical, written and skills test for lift truck
- Knowledge of medium duty trucks including maintenance and operation within accepted standards and legal requirements
- Ability to read GPS
- Ability to read and prepare reports
- Use and maintain radio/telephone and other company equipment
- Must be able to use handheld technology and smart phone applications.
