Positon Summary

The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator provides the management expertise for achieving the goals and objectives of the program in accordance with the mission of the organization. Must be aware of conditions, events and issues that affect the community in which the program operates. The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator has full legal authority and responsibility for the operation of the facility ensuring that it operates in compliance with all applicable State and Federal Regulations. In addition, the Skilled Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the quality of care and services provided to the residents. The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator’s responsibilities can be divided into six broad categories: planning; organization; operations/management; financial resources; human resources; and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Healthcare Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience leading a leadership team.
  • Licensed where applicable by the State; State requirements may dictate supervision and degree type.


Essential Functions/Areas Of Accountability

  • The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator engages in a planning process for the program that determines its goals and objectives in relationship to changes in the environment and the needs of its community, establishes priorities, frames the most appropriate organizational structure to achieve its goals and objectives and provides benchmarks for evaluating the achievement of its goals and objectives. The results of the planning process should be reflected in a business plan, developed by the Skilled Nursing Home Administrator.
  • The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator should create and monitor the organizational structure of the program to ensure its effectiveness and responsiveness to those being served. The nature of the structure is dynamic and flexible, responsive to needs of the participants.
  • The amount of time that can be allocated to essential activities that call upon the visionary and strategic skills of the Skilled Nursing Home Administrator is dependent upon the effectiveness of the day-to-day operations of the program. The Skilled Nursing Home Administrator must create, sustain and evaluate on an ongoing basis an infrastructure of people who take overall responsibility for implementing the program’s service strategy and for initiating corrections that keep the strategy on course. The direct reports would customarily include, but not be limited to, Director of Nursing, Director of Social Services, Director of Environmental Services, Admissions, Director of Dietary Services, Director of Life Enrichment and Director of Therapy. Refer to the organizational structure of the facility.
