JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The Residential Technician is responsible for supporting the needs of Veterans in the transitional residential housing program. This position ensures the safety and security of the residents and facility.
Essential Functions
- Ensures the security and operational control of the facility
- Monitors and documents resident and visitor activity both inside and outside the facility
- Monitors the existence of contraband in the facility through general observation and searches of the facility, residents, and vehicles
- Performs drug testing to monitor resident alcohol and drug use
- Assigns and monitors resident work and extra-duty assignments to ensure facility cleanliness
- Assists residents with short-term coping mechanisms and problem-solving
- Provides or helps residents obtain transportation

- Ability to work with a vulnerable population and maintain composure in potentially aggressive or emergencies
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Ability to drive a company vehicle to transport residents

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment
This job operates in a residential facility environment.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stoop as necessary. The monitor is also expected to stay awake overnight.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time or full-time position depending on the needs of the program.
Travel
Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's license
Preferred Education and Experience
- One year of work experience in a residential setting or related field.
