Summary/Objective
The Tribal Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining positive partnerships, treatment services, and expanding referrals to VOA treatment services. The Tribal Coordinator will comply with White Bison certification requirements and build programming and relationships to support the Native American Cultural Enhancement Program (NACEP).
Essential Functions
- Act as a Volunteers of America liaison with Tribal/Agency/Nation leaders to provide information about the NACEP and build/maintain the patient referral, admissions, and discharge process- ensuring patient and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain White Bison certification.
- Oversight of NACEP program requirements and CARF standards of tribal patient care.
- Maintain/monitor deliverables to meet and/or exceed requirements.
- Ensure contractual services are developed and delivered to tribal partners in an effective and efficient manner.
- Provide cultural training and insights to staff and patients in VOA behavioral healthcare system.
- Collaborate with the Treatment Team to address patient concerns and provide NACEP support
- Travel to referring agencies quarterly or as required, provide training to tribal partners per contract requirements, coordinate weekly or as required, Utilization Reviews with tribal partners regarding affiliated tribal patients.
- Responsible for developing and assisting with maintaining aftercare planning and care of tribal clients.

Supervisory
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.
Work Environment
This job operates in the residential treatment facility environment. This role will require frequent travel and standard office equipment such as laptops, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to bend or stoop as necessary. This position must be mobile throughout the facility and work on a computer for periods. This position must also be capable of withstanding the high-heat atmospheric conditions created within the lodge as part of the ceremony.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Travel
Frequent travel is expected for this position to meet with Tribal/Agency/Nation leaders every quarter or more often to meet referral, budget, and program needs.
Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, science, or other related disciplines
or
- Associate degree and or three (3) years of relevant business experience
- Proficient with a variety of computer software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite and desktop publishing
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous Human Services training and/or experience in the addiction field
- Appreciation and knowledge of the Native American culture.
