JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Home Manager is a direct-care professional responsible for implementing quality treatment and supporting daily operations in a residential group home setting. This role focuses on hands-on assistance to consumers while working under the direction of the Home Manager. Primary responsibilities include providing life skills training, supporting self-help initiatives, and fostering socialization and adaptive skills that enable successful community integration. The position involves direct resident care, including transportation assistance, housekeeping support, and maintenance coordination. Key to this role is developing meaningful relationships with residents while ensuring their rights are protected and their individual needs are met in a safe, healthy living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Supervision:
- Serves as Acting Home Manager during Manager's absence and shift leader when on duty
- Trains and mentors Direct Support Professional staff
- Ensures proper shift change communication with relief staff
Direct Care & Treatment:
- Implements quality individual treatment plans for consumers
- Provides for residents' health and safety through preventive techniques
- Assists with meal planning and preparation based on individual needs
- Drives agency van for resident transportation
- Performs housekeeping duties as assigned
- Maintains CMA certification and manages medication responsibilities:
- Ensures zero medication errors within 12-month period
- Orders medications as needed
- Updates MAR according to nurse instructions
Documentation & Reporting:
- Completes 1st and 25th of the month reports with accuracy
- Maintains daily documentation requirements
- Prepares incident reports in a timely manner
- Assists with records maintenance per VOASELA policies
- Ensures compliance with licensing/funding agency requirements
Facility Management:
- Maintains facility and equipment in safe, clean condition
- Reports repair needs promptly
- Completes house maintenance reviews
- Coordinates with Home Manager on facility needs
Emergency Preparedness:
- Participates in hurricane season protocols:
- Evacuates with residents when required
- Assists with shelter-in-place procedures
- Monitors and reports emergency/disaster supply needs
- Follows safety protocols and emergency procedures
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-essential)
- Adhere to the designated dress code as stipulated for the specific role.
- Maintains and develop positive relationships with residents and family members.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
- Two years experience or desire in working with individuals who have developmental/intellectual disabilities and other co-occurring diagnosis.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability in record keeping must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain annual training for CMA
- Maintain annual training for peg feeding.
- Able to work at other Group homes when assigned.
- Ability to drive a twelve (12) passenger van with passenger lift mechanism is required.
- Must have a valid Louisiana Driver’s license
- Be insurable under the VOASELA, Inc.’s vehicle insurance.
- Must be 21 years of age to drive the agency van.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CardioPulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, pushing, bending, squatting, lifting, and pulling. Required to assist in moving consumers weighing up to 200lb, uses a mop and household cleaners when cleaning residential home.
