General Function:
Childcare Health Consultants use their health expertise and knowledge of best practices to provide advice and technical assistance in many areas.
Job Responsibilities:
Help programs understand children's healthy growth and development, and how to address health conditions.
Write or review policies and procedures to reduce the spread of illness.
Observe practices and help programs prevent injuries and illnesses, including identifying hazards in the facility.
Provide training for staff and families and facilitate referrals to community resources.
Assist programs with quality improvement strategies, including working with Early Achievers coaches as needed.
Help to prevent the expulsion of children due to challenging behaviors, special health care needs, and developmental disabilities.
Provide advice on nutrition and physical activity.
Assist with the tracking and monitoring immunization compliance.

Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
- Experience equivalent to two years of nursing, nursing experience for children and families.
- Satisfactory criminal history background per DCYF requirements.
- Requires a high level of professionalism with strong communication and collaborative skills. Will require ability to explain/train to staff with English as a Second Language.
- Must have patience and be a strong team player with the ability to work with a diverse team, including those with minimal medical knowledge.
- Strong computer skills required, specifically word-processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to make effective decisions and handle emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
- High level of confidentiality and discretion with individuals health information.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
