Major Functions
The County of Volusia is seeking a Management Specialist for the Agriculture Center under the Resource Stewardship Division. This position will be responsible for all the Agricultural Center Activities ‘purchasing and travel, as well as the University of Florida (UF) purchasing and travel. The preferred candidate will have at least two (2) years of accounts payable experience, CGI Financial Advantage, as well as two (2) years of Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
The preferred candidate will have to successfully undergo the University of Florida (UF) online training in deposits, travel, Purchasing Card, purchasing and FDACS training for proctoring pesticide licenses testing. Must be able to work occasional hours outside of the normal 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday work schedule.

- Responsible for the daily operation of a special program or division operation without direct supervision.
- Coordinates administrative functions associated with the assigned program.
- Develops, produces, and analyzes reports and data for Extension faculty and division director.
- Completes necessary correspondence related to the program.
- Monitors programs for compliance with management goals and objectives.
- Analyzes data, systems, and policies to maintain program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Troubleshoots problems as they arise.
- May assist in training personnel.
- Develops forms, procedures, and systems.
- Regularly keeps management informed on status of program.
- Completes special studies and reports.
- May function as a division specialist in a technical area of expertise.
- Performs duties and assignments associated with technical specialty.
- May be required to operate specialized equipment.
- Coordinates operations of programs with other divisions, agencies, and services.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or possession of GED, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative or technical support.
A comparable amount of education, training, and experience may be substituted or the minimum qualifications if the following conditions are met:
The comparable experience, training and/or education has a direct relationship to the duties of the position being advertised.
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at time of hire and maintain thereafter.

Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and scientific manuals, journals, documents associated with program area; reports, safety instructions, memos, letters; may be required to read and comprehend legal documents, grant documents, and financial reports. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Ability to write letters, procedures, memos, reports relaying information, ideas, data, and detail. Ability to speak clearly and concisely relaying information to laymen. Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions.
Physical Demands: Mostly sedentary work with some event/program set-up. Ability to talk, see, hear, walk on uneven ground. Ability to reach overhead, push, pull, and have finger dexterity.
Environmental Demands: Inside and some outside work.
