REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography, Business or Public Administration or equivalent • Three (3) years relevant experience; Master’s Degree may substitute for two (2) years experience • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and database management • Experience in working with parents, community members, education or government agency personnel on a collaborative basis • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Effective public articulation of district goals, objectives and operations • Knowledge of state and local growth management legislation • Proficiency in current GIS computing technologies and software applications • Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain cooperative work relationships with local governments, the development community, parents, school based and district staff • Ability to exercise judgment in interpreting and applying applicable regulations • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and make presentations • Skill in analyzing, evaluating and solving problems • Ability to attend meetings outside normal office hours • Ability to work in and through conflict situations • Ability to initiate and interpret policy • Proficient computer skills
POSITION GOAL
- To provide technical support in the area of facilities planning, school concurrency, and student assignment for Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- *Attend meetings outside the normal office hours as assigned.
- *Evaluate the impact of proposed development of schools and the School District.
- *Assist in the site selection process for the acquisition of education facilities.
- *Assist in the coordination process with other local and state governmental and regulatory agencies for the development of school district property.
- Monitor and report population growth and future land use patterns in the county.
- *Represent Volusia County Schools (VCS) on various governmental committees as assigned.
- *Collaborate with other departments to prepare, initiate, and finalize the required upcoming and departing student reports.
- *Assist in development of attendance area boundary presentations and provide technical data and reports as necessary.
- *Assist with the design, maintenance and update of student attendance zone information and controlled open enrollment and supervise distribution.
- *Maintain and update GIS data.
- *Coordinate and participate with other agencies as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Planning
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
