Custodian

The Camp at Winona YMCA is looking for a part-time Custodian to join their team. The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal.

Job-Specific Functions:

• This is accomplished by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
• Cleans strength/free weight and cardio equipment in the Wellness Center by vacuuming under/around the equipment and wiping down all equipment and surfaces. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies as needed.
• May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, and general cleaning.
• Report/record any equipment problems and ensure that faulty equipment is not used by members or staff.
• Remain familiar with emergency procedures in the program and the facility, understanding specific responsibilities in case of fire, hurricane, tornado, or any other emergency.
• Ensures property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical and/or Mental Requirements

• Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
• Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
• Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
• Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities; semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Talents

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Experience: Cleaning/Custodial experience preferred

Criminal background check and drug screening required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour
