Job Summary:
The purpose of the VPC Master Technician will be to complete all processes associated with accessory installations, training future employees, and vehicle repair at the VPC.
Principal Responsibilities
- Safety Minded
- Comply with all Volvo and industry safety rules and regulations to promote safe work environment.
- Communicate clearly with all employees to help promote a safe work environment.
- Follow all attendance policies.
- Meet all quality requirements associated with job task.
- Complete automotive mechanical repairs and mechanical upgrades.
- Complete vehicle inspections and note any repairs found needed.
- Removal of damaged parts that are in general repair areas.
- Part Inspections on all parts before installation.
- Prepare / Prep parts before installation
- Repair of all identified vehicles.
- Repairs could be minor or major
- Install all new or repaired parts.
- Performing facility 5s (House Keeping) duties daily.
- Adapt to schedule changes. This is referring to possibility of unexpected over time that may be need to complete daily task.
- Principal Authorities
- Represent and drive Volvo US Operations interests within the competence area.
Job Specifications:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver’s licenses and be able to drive vehicles in tight areas.
- Must be self-motivated and can work alone without constant supervision.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and relate well with other employees.
- Understand and be able to separate numbers. Reading VIN Numbers (Vehicle Identifications Numbers)
- At least 5 years automotive mechanical experience required. Experience with Volvo cars a plus
- ASE certifications or similar certifications required.
- Must have automotive technical experience using computers for diagnostic test and system upgrades. (VIDA)
- Experience and knowledge of hand tools, air tools, power tools and hydraulic lifts.
- Must be able to handle constant exposure to the elements of outdoor weather.
- Basic knowledge of technical equipment (Computer’s, two-way radios, and Scanners).
- Must be able to handle constant walking, bending, kneeling, and twisting.
- Know that there could be required overtime, night shift work, and traveling to other Volvo facilities for work or training.
- High voltage battery training on hybrids and full electric (Electric is the future)
- Supporting and helping other departments in day-to-day process-Accessory installs, body wraps, distribution team, ETC.
- Capability to train in repair and installs.
- Maintaining maintenance and repairs on all pool car fleet and work vehicles. Including wheel alignments on machine.
- Capability to order parts for repairs (VBOX)
- Capability to prep vehicles for scrap process-All fluids drained and batteries removed and deposed in accordance with Volvo environmental process.
