We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Body Repair Technician to join our team, specializing in high-quality cab manufacturing and repair. The successful candidate will perform metal finishing preparation to Class “A” Standards on both painted and unpainted cabs, ensuring top-notch quality and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform metal finishing preparation to Class “A” Standards on painted and unpainted cabs, including hand-working sheet metal, filing, grinding, buffing, DA sanding, and repainting to remove imperfections.
- Set up and execute both simple and complex assembly operations on benches, floor fixtures, or progressive production lines.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Conduct inspections as outlined in Inspection Instruction Sheets to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Operate various manual production equipment, including but not limited to spot welders, MIG welders, gas welders, plasma cutters, sealer flow guns, sanders, and grinders.
- Use precise measurement tools to ensure accurate repairs and assembly.
- Uphold and maintain a team-oriented environment, aligned with quality goals and company standards.
- Check parts for accuracy and notify supervisors of any discrepancies prior to starting repairs.
- Diagnose and accurately repair damage to cabs and components.
- Rework repairs that do not meet company standards or customer expectations.
- Participate actively in daily team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and ensure proper functionality of tools and equipment in the department.
- Keep the production area clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards throughout the workday.
- Adhere to all safety and OSHA guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment such as earplugs, eye protection, welding helmets, and gloves.
- Mentor and provide guidance to metal finishers and grinders to develop skills and maintain high-quality performance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in auto body repair preferred.
- 2 years of experience in auto body repair, welding, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing or repair environment.
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment such as grinders, welders, sanders, and paint sprayers.
- Knowledge of body shop repair techniques, materials, and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with repairing cabs for heavy equipment, trucks, or industrial vehicles.
- Certifications in welding, auto body repair, or refinishing (e.g., I-CAR, ASE).
- Familiarity with robotic or automated repair systems is a plus.
