D&IT Project Manager -


Within the Volvo Group, Mack Trucks is making significant investments in its Roanoke Valley factory. The overall goal is to optimize its current operations while preparing for a future of new products and processes.

You will be leading teams to support the Digitalization & IT components of industrial projects and corresponding product launches. In parallel, IT is exponentially growing in its capabilities, and we will be looking for a project manager that can lead industrializations of Industry 4.0 use cases and organize process optimizations using low-code tools such as those in the Microsoft Power Platform. This will require steady leadership, a “can-do” attitude, a passionate change agent, and an agile mindset.

Job Summary

This role is required to be onsite in RVO and will lead Digitalization & IT project teams to deliver scopes defined by the local Digitalization & IT Director according to the agreed specifications of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Features while mitigating Risk to an acceptable level. This person will lead cross-functional teams that will be a combination of onsite, global, and external IT resources.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for the project(s) from beginning to end including timing, costs, scope of work, risk, communications, and team project activity.
  • Work cross functionally with factory representatives, industrial project management, the IT community, and key partners and suppliers to ensure a successful project deliverable.
  • Establishes and maintains an end-to-end perspective for factory information deliverables.
  • Manage and Maintain Project Status documentation and presentations.
  • Use agile techniques as part of a diverse team to drive successful delivery.
  • Present status updates on a regular basis as requested by managers and key stakeholders.
  • Work with appropriate personnel to provide project deliverable, material, capital, and expense estimates and updates.
  • Create and manage appropriate time plan(s) by defining tailored milestones and deliveries that complement and are in alignment with the project main time plan
  • Ensure all communication and direction of plant related activities is coordinated through the project team and network
  • Interact on a daily base with other line organizations involved in the project
  • Take active part of decision-making including recommendations to Senior Staff on Industrial IT Solutions
  • Secure information flow and a common understanding of strategies in the manufacturing teams


Who are you?


Minimum Education Required:


  • University degree with demonstrated experience managing industrial and IT initiatives.

Experience Required:

  • A combined experience of 5 years in managing Industrial/IT projects, or Industrial/IT operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Strong ability to successfully work with minimal direct instruction/supervision
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
As all documentation is in English, high proficiency in the English language is required.
Additional Skills Required:
  • Strong background in Industrial/IT operations
  • Proficient in MS Project and MS Office
  • Self-sufficient with MS Power Platform (PowerBI primarily with Power Apps and Power Automate a plus) and the ability to coach others in basic concepts
  • Experience in a team-based environment
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and demonstrated focus on lean manufacturing concepts

Additional Preferred:
  • Good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses and related business processes
  • Working knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and it’s applicability to Heavy Truck Manufacturing processes
