Job Brief: We are looking for an experienced bench jeweler skilled in jewelry making, jewelry repair, selling, and restoring jewelry. This person should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, and make good, sound decisions with strong problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities:
Jewelry repairs:
- Fixing broken clasps
- Replacing worn or damaged prongs
- Resizing rings
- Repairing broken chains
- Remounting stones
- Fixing bent or damaged jewelry
Stone setting:
- Setting new gemstones
- Replacing loose stones
- Matching stone cuts and sizes
Finishing and polishing:
- Buffing and polishing finished pieces
- Cleaning and inspecting jewelry
Metalwork:
- Soldering
- Welding
- Engraving
Customer service:
- Consulting with clients on repair options
- Providing estimates for repairs
- Communicating repair progress with clients
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of bench experience in a high-end jewelry manufacturing shop or store.
- Knowledge of complex and intricate jewelry construction and precious metal properties.
- Ability to construct handmade elements, mechanical components, clasps, and connections.
- Ability to communicate issues clearly in a team environment.
- Knowledge of colored stone properties, setting techniques, and styles.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must be highly motivated.
