Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Act as a solution consultant for major issues, while coordinating with internal teams for the implementation of new products.
- Coach and train other Project Engineers (with assistance from the Sr. Manager, Technical Delivery) to ensure they can provide effective technical support.
- Prepare and review cost estimates for projects during the bidding, execution, and post-execution phases.
- Maintain professionalism and strong communication skills in customer-facing interactions with a focus on understanding the needs of transit agencies.
- Conduct thorough requirements analysis for new software development and transition to the software development life cycle.
- Perform project requirement analysis, capture, and support solution adaptation.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of maintenance agreements with clients.
- Lead workflow process and software configuration sessions with customers.
- Coordinate and install standard upgrades and patches as necessary.
- Regularly create and update development reports, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
- Continuously deepen knowledge of the Company processes and customer agency operations to adapt, configure, and implement solutions that best meet customer needs.
- Availability for remote support “after hours” in an on-call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 50% of the time (including domestic and international), for customer site visits, training and meetings.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with customers and internal teams, both remotely and in person.
- In-depth technical knowledge and ability to support software development, upgrades, and system configurations.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and stay current with developments in software and hardware.
- Ability to self-learn and seek out knowledge on new systems, including other 3rd party systems that may be in place at a customer site.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software(s).
- Post-secondary education in the area of Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education/experience. Equivalent combination in lieu of degree would include an additional of 4 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of advanced MS Windows and application experience including: remote desktop, command prompt and PowerShell.
- SQL Server and/or ORACLE database experience is preferred.
- Understanding of the North American Transit Industry and Agencies (specifically with CAD/AVL) is preferred but not required.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop.
- Ability to travel (including domestic and international), sometimes for extended periods, which may involve sitting during transit and walking at various locations. This role requires travel up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to life up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to handle high utilization of hand and wrist dexterity.
