MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. A professional teaching certificate in South Carolina is preferred, though candidates with advanced degrees and related expertise may provide alternative qualifications, such as experience teaching in higher education.
- Demonstrated expertise in the content areas relevant to Praxis exams and a solid understanding of the Praxis exam format, structure, and standards.
- Proven track record of implementing effective, evidence-based teaching practices that support student success. Commitment to excellence in teaching, as demonstrated through evaluations, testimonials, or other evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Comprehensive knowledge of a relevant content area to provide individual, specialized testing support in the subject area and to serve as a resource person for program participants, peers, committees, and related stakeholders is also required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Praxis Support Instructor develops & implements the Praxis content area, supports tests and testing programs closely aligned to the current subject-area standards, and student-learning objectives, and leads discussions with program participants on the assessment of subject-related constructs. This role applies strong content knowledge and is knowledgeable about current standards, trends, and strategies for success on the content test(s). The Instructor works closely with participants to understand how to meet their needs. The Instructor functions at a high level of knowledge and skill in the content area. The Instructor works independently as part of the EPI Center team and may also work with outside experts in the field of specialty. This role reports directly to the Associate Director for Credentialing.
- Design and implement evidence-based Praxis support sessions with a full range of evidence-based pre and post-assessments.
- Prepare weekly small group and one-to-one Praxis support sessions.
- Provide Direct Support to Program Participants.
- Monitor and Assess Program Participants’ Progress.
- Maintain progress reports, & anecdotal assessment records to provide regular updates to participants & comprehensive reports to leadership on participant progress.
- Collaborate on Professional Development Plans.
- Develop Learning Plans for program participants based on documented data and formal evaluations.
- Serve as a Resource for Praxis-Related Questions.
- Promote a Supportive and Inclusive Learning Environment.
- Collaborate with EPI Center Staff and Engage in Continuous Professional Improvement.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Hybrid with weekly in-office requirements and in-person obligations.
- Up to 60 Hours Per Month.
- Overnight Travel - Occasionally.
