Job Description
The Facility Manager at Vorbeck will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment, infrastructure, and machinery to ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing process. This role requires hands-on work, troubleshooting, and leadership to address facility-related issues efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and a proactive approach to risk management are key for success in this role.
- Facility Maintenance & Inspections: Oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility systems, including production equipment, building infrastructure, safety systems, and utilities.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnose facility issues and repair or replace faulty components to restore equipment functionality. Oversee construction and renovation projects to improve efficiency and to ensure that facilities meet environmental, health, and security standards, and comply with government regulations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Manage and schedule routine preventive maintenance activities for equipment and systems to prevent breakdowns, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend equipment lifespan.
- Safety Compliance & OSHA Standards: Ensure all maintenance work adheres to local safety codes, OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Promote a safety-conscious environment and conduct regular safety training and audits to minimize hazards and maintain compliance.
- Documentation & Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, parts inventory, and system upgrades or changes. Oversee inventory management for maintenance supplies and parts, ensuring timely procurement of materials for repairs or upgrades.
- Collaboration & Emergency Response: Work closely with the maintenance team, production staff, and other departments to resolve issues, enhance equipment performance, and support production goals. Provide on-call support for urgent maintenance issues, responding promptly to minimize disruptions and ensure production uptime.
- Continuous Improvement & Risk Management: Identify potential risks or challenges in facility and plant systems, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them. Participate in safety audits, inspections, and process improvement initiatives to enhance facility operations and equipment performance.
- Work Area Organization & Safety: Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety standards, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Process Improvement: Participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance facility operations and equipment performance.
- Intellectual Property: Collaborate with the legal team to protect intellectual property.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with operations and production activities as needed, including material handling, quality control (QC) testing, and supporting operational shifts.
- Travel (expected 20%): Willingness to travel as needed to support maintenance projects, collaborate with other facilities, or respond to urgent needs.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required. An Associate’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Up-to-date OSHA certification or equivalent safety training required.
- Heavy machinery experience and certifications preferred (Forklift, Scissor lift, etc.)
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven leadership experience (at least 3-5 years) in a supervisory or management role.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex issues efficiently.
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and national codes, ensuring all work complies with safety and regulatory standards.
- Logical thinker with the ability to evaluate options, make sound decisions, and resolve issues quickly.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and detailed manuals, safety guidelines, and repair logs to ensure precise installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team.
- Must be able to perform activities such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, stair and ladder climbing on a daily basis
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of daily responsibilities.
