Summary/Job Scope: Heavy Equipment Operator-Summer/Temp
Purpose Of Position
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep the plant hoppers loaded with the proper amount of raw material; break up large rocks to a manageable size; notify Geologist/Mining Manager of any impending shortages.
- Stockpile excess raw material to be processed.
- Operate Mud Cat, excavating hoe and other vehicles and heavy equipment as required.
- Move materials as requested.
- Load dump trucks, trailers, and pickups with the proper amount of requested material as required.
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times; wear uniform.
- Keep equipment and plant site neat and clean at all times
- wash the outside of the equipment whenever necessary; pick up trash, etc. from grounds; make sure all equipment is in its proper place.
- Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at ALL times;
- wear all required safety equipment; follow all safety guidelines; perform all inspections and fill out reports as required; notify the proper personnel immediately of any potential or current safety problems.
- Lock and secure assigned equipment daily at the end of the shift or as otherwise required by the Geologist/Mining Manager and/or the Safety department. All keys should be removed from assigned equipment daily and the keys are the responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Follow all company environmental regulations and policies; clean up any excess material which could cause environmental problems.
- Perform any miscellaneous duties requested by the Geologist/Mining Manager, which may include, but is not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, picking up equipment or supplies, transporting company mail, training another employee, and filling in for an absent employee.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Possess a level of determination to successfully complete tasks, projects, and career responsibilities.
- Take the initiative to start new tasks or projects or operate out of their area of influence.
- Suggest and implement new ways to make our business better.
- Must be able to push and pull-on various levers and instruments.
- Must be able to climb on and walk around in uneven and rough ground conditions to inspect and clean equipment or production plants.
- Must be able to withstand operating equipment in uneven and rough ground condition throughout the workday. (mud/clay/gravel)
- Must pass a NON-DOT physical.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds several times a day.
- Must be able to get in and out of the equipment several times a day.
- Must be able to work in outside weather conditions year-round.
