Associate Counsel - Retirement Services

Profile Summary : We are seeking a service-oriented individual to join our team of experienced workplace solutions— health and wealth legal professionals. The Associate Counsel will support Voya’s retirement plan business, focusing on defined contribution and nonqualified plans within the broader workplace solutions legal team.Profile Description : Provide effective legal oversight support to the business to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal Voya standardsPartner, collaborate and communicate with Voya business partners and to create, deliver and execute on projects that address applicable rules and regulationAnalyze and interpret laws and regulations and determine impact on new and existing policies, products, procedures, and servicesEffectively communicate regulatory and procedural changes and / or important issues to affected business unit(s) and build strong relationships with business partnersResearch and draft responses to customer or regulatory inquiries or investigations about legal issuesWork closely with Voya’s Compliance functions to research and respond to complex complaints and to address operational issuesRepresent the legal department on key project teams and activities and make recommendations as necessaryWork with the business areas to identify and mitigate risks and update procedures as necessaryIdentify thematic trends, assess risk and drive solutions to address issues, complaints, risk, etc., globally, if necessaryOther duties and projects as assignedGeneral Skills and Competencies : Proactive and practical attitudeStrong verbal and written communication skillsCuriosity about our business and industryAgile and creative approach to problem solvingCollaborative team playerGrowth mindset and ability to gain new areas of expertiseKnowledge & Experience : Juris Doctorate from an accredited law schoolActive member of good standing in at least one jurisdiction3-5 years of legal or regulatory experienceExtensive knowledge of workplace-related retirement programs, including 401(k), 457 plans, 403(b) plans, 409(A) plans, and applicable federal and state regulationsStrong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skillsProven ability to manage high volumes under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and minimizing risk to the companyConsistently works with business leaders and legal team with reliable results under minimal supervisionTakes ownership of issues throughout the resolution process. Gathers necessary information to assess each situationUses data to implement process improvementsAbility to exercise judgment, initiative and discretion in confidential and sensitive mattersComputer literacy and proficiency (Microsoft Office products)Strong organizational skillsSkills in managing details with speed and accuracyCompensation Pay Disclosure : Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed.
