Get To Know The Opportunity:
This role is for a Senior COBOL developer to focus on highly visible, complex and critical business priorities developing and supporting Cobol in a Linux environment. Develops plans for defining, developing and supporting significant information technology components supporting the Workplace Solutions line of business.
The Contributions You'll Make:
- Serves as Cobol technical expert, resolving problems of systems integration, compatibility, and performance in a Linux based environment.
- Builds and maintains systems based on applications architectures to improve business processes and in alignment/support of critical business strategies.
- Assesses the business and organizational implications of key application technology alternatives for wide-impact initiatives to recommend appropriate strategic action.
- Facilitates continued process improvements within team.
- Determines organizational impact of software maintenance issues and develops overall strategy to address them.
- Integrates activities with business units and collaborates to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge & Experience:
- Extensive experience as a Cobol developer in a Linux environment
- Knowledge and experience with OMNIPlus and OMNI Scripting
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of software engineering and development
- Significant experience in large-scale integrated online RDBMSs across multiple hardware and software platforms.
- Significant experience in new computing architectures and implementation of networked computing structures.
- Significant experience across multiple platforms/technologies including OO programming experience, including Java and C .
- Experience developing Cobol in a Linux or UNIX environment. WIll consider Mainframe experience with anyone willing to learn Linux
- Financial Services knowledge
