Title: Middle School Assistant Principal
Status: Full Time
Reports to: MS Principal

We are currently seeking a Middle School Assistant Principal to join our School Leadership Team.
Job Description:
The Middle School Assistant Principal is responsible for ensuring the vision, mission, and goals of Voyager Academy are achieved at the Middle School. The assistant principal serves on the leadership team and, along with the principal, sets the culture and climate in the middle school building. The assistant principal will share in the responsibility of protecting the health and welfare of students and in the oversight of all building operations, scheduling, and enforcement of the student and employee handbook.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as Administrator in charge in absence of Principal
- Serve as LEA as needed in EC meetings
- Oversees all matters of student attendance.
- Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student’s life in school.
- Resolves all discipline problems in a fair and just manner and maintains records of any discipline action taken.
- Works with community agencies as needed to support students.
- Assists in administering practices dealing with campus security and emergency procedures.
- Assists with campus supervision.
- Confers with parents, teachers, counselors and students on matters related to academics, attendance, discipline, and well-being.
- Has a general supervisory responsibility for student activities, athletic events, orientation programs, and community activities.
- Assists in assigning faculty to supervision of co-curricular activities.
- Supervises distribution of student calendars, schedules, bulletins and the like.
- Meets with department heads and/or leadership team to insure compliance with standards
- Administers or supervises the administration of achievement tests
- Prepares informative reports for guidance counselors, teachers and other professionals who use group tests results in performing their own duties
- Holds monthly leadership team meetings providing agendas and minutes to Principal in a timely manner
- Works closely with Principal/Guidance Counselor and Testing Coordinator on master schedule
- Attends formal and informal meetings with teachers as necessary
- Communicates with parents concerning curriculum and teacher concern
- Works with Facilities Coordinator to maintain high standards for the Middle School facilities
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal/director may from time to time assign
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master of Science in Educational Leadership, State Certification, 3-5 years classroom experience. School Administrator experience preferred.
