We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Band Teacher to join our Middle School Team for the 25-26 school year in our new Performing Arts Center.
Job Description :
The band teacher will provide musical guidance and direction to our middle school students. To be successful you should be creative, assertive, and passionate about music and be able to teach various instruments and styles of music. Candidate should demonstrate exceptional communication, leadership, teamwork and organizational skills at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Employment hours are 7 : 45 - 3 : 45, Monday through Friday of each school week.
- Teach instrumental music to 4th through 8th grade students
- Work in conjunction with the high school band teacher to prepare middle school students for our current high school band program
- Embrace a teamwork mindset and will collaborate with the performing arts team to continue to expand and develop the performing arts at Voyager Academy
- Open to Extra-curricular responsibilities, which could include : Pep bands, extracurricular band opportunities, competitions, etc.
- Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate
- Decide on appropriate musical pieces for the students to perform based on the venue and occasion
- Plan, rehearse, and direct musical experiences for the school and community
- Cooperate with the school administration in providing music programs for school productions and, as appropriate, civic functions that enhance students' performing experience
- Oversee scheduling and other arrangements for the rehearsals and concerts in cooperation with the fine arts team and administration
- Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, instruments, supplies, etc.
- Control the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
- Submit budget needs annually to the principal in accordance with established timelines and guidelines
- Order all supplies and materials necessary for music-related activities in accordance with established district procedures and budget allocations
- Develop and implement plans for music programs and shows written evidence of preparation as required
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
- Attend meetings and serve on staff committees as required
Minimum Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree required. Teaching experience and certification preferred but not required.
