Position Overview:
Performs intermediate skilled trades work maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and members of the public; providing furniture and equipment for meetings or events; performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Supervisor of Building and Grounds. Occasional oversight is exercised over Custodians.
Essential Functions:
Maintains heating ventilation and air conditioning systems; monitors door security system; monitors facility usage for events held on school properties for events and proper functions held within the schools; monitors lighting control system; activates and deactivates alarm system; monitors automated building controls and mechanical equipment.
Cleans, scrubs, strips, waxes, buffs and sweeps floors; vacuums carpets; responds to emergency clean-ups; replaces lights and ballasts; performs minor plumbing repairs; keeps custodial and maintenance room clean and well maintained; replaces lighting as needed; unloads school supplies and equipment.
Performs and assists with repairs and maintenance; monitors boiler operations and reports concerns; monitors cooling system and heating software to maintain temperate conditions; assists with snow and ice removal; repairs locks and doors as required.
Provides work direction to custodial staff and general contractors.
Provides information to the public when using facilities on safety and appropriate use; assists with the set-up and take-down of events and activities.
Monitors inventory levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in a custodial or mechanical environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Boilers License within 6 months
Valid driver's license.
Compensation: $22.03 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
