Quality Systems Associate I

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8-hour shifts
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour
Position Summary:
VPI Compounding Pharmacy is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Systems Associate to join our Quality team. This is an entry-level position designed for someone passionate about compliance, documentation, and quality improvement in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. You'll work cross-functionally with multiple departments such as Compounding, Warehouse, Administration, and more to support compliance, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a STEM background who is eager to learn and grow in the pharmaceutical industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable pharmaceutical standards (USP <795>, <797>, <800>, and FDA Compounding regulations).
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System, including SOPs, change controls, deviations, CAPAs, and training documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality-related investigations.
- Collaborate with vendors and contract labs to verify that incoming materials meet required quality specifications.
- Collect, analyze, and report on key quality metrics and trends.
- Assist with technician training and competency assessments in quality-related areas.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects and support quality assurance activities throughout the facility.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred:
- Experience in quality assurance or a related field in pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
- Familiarity with compounding pharmacy standards and quality documentation.
- 2 years of experience in biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, or other scientific disciplines.
- Experience supporting audits or working within regulated environments.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move between departments for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including lab coats, gloves, and masks when in cleanroom or warehouse areas.
- May require extended periods of computer work and document review.
