What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Assembler position at VPT Inc?
VPT, Inc., a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space and industrial applications, has an immediate opening for an Electronics Assembler for their office in Blacksburg, VA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate machinery and tooling
- Review and assemble items according to assembly drawings or other work instructions to figure out operational methods or sequences
- Assemble electronic components manually using hand tools and bench mounted tools
- Inspect installed components and/or assemblies
- Rework or repair parts or assemblies
- Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information
- Perform automated testing and screening of production parts
The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies:
- Detail oriented
- Technically and mechanically inclined
- Ability to regularly communicate with management, engineers, and design staff to ensure designs are implemented correctly
- Familiarity working in an ESD and FOD-controlled environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow strict safety guidelines
- Ability to read parts lists and make sure all are present
- Ability to work with team members to ensure production goals are met
- Excellent hand-eye coordination along with strong hand dexterity to be able to manage small components
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 0 - 1 year of general work experience
- Experience interpreting schematics, drawing, diagrams, and other visual aids for assembly
- Experience using tools to assemble or repair parts and products
- Familiarity with undergoing routine preventive maintenance
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 1 -2 years of experience in electronic assembly operations
- Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician Degree
- Proficiency with commonly used hand tools and/or power tools used in a machine shop setting
- Soldering experience (J-STD or IPC-610 Soldering Certification)
- Be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment and be capable and motivated to build, repair and maintain electronic assemblies
Because of the nature of this position a US Person is required
Compensation is competitive and will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
This is a temporary position with the potential for permanent placement. Actual employment will be through Luttrell Staffing.
