Database Architect
Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviews objectives with clients; evaluates current systems; provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.Candidate must be onsite for first four months. Later, 40% TC may be allowed; that is candidate may telecommute on Mon & Fri and must to be onsite on Tue, Wed, Thurs.

This position will support the EIM / Database Administration Team of NYS-DTF. This position will provide design, coding and performance tuning services at the database level in support of multiple large scale, high visibility applications.
o Responsible for expert analysis, support, development, reengineering, and implementation of multiple business applications. Support is required for specific programming languages (COBOL, SQL, and Java), for specific database management systems (DB2 z/OS, DB2 LUW, IDMS, SQL Server), and using specific technologies (MQ Series, CICS, Sort, JCL, VSAM, Unix scripting, DBI performance tools, Erwin, TSO/ISPF, Data Studio, z/OS, AIX, IBM Data Replication).
o Provide performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, benchmark design.
o Develop a streamlined process for database migrations.
o Design methodologies for data synchronization from operational data stores to a data warehouse across multiple database platforms and varied DBMS'.
o Planning, interfacing, and usage between application databases, data warehouse, Cognos, Identity Insight, and DataStage.
o Act as liaison between Data Management, business customers, and application development staff to ensure that recommended performance considerations are included in reviews, designs, development, and implementation of applications.
o Create cost effective and timely solutions to strategic business requirements utilizing database structures, application methodologies, and coding techniques.
o Provide performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, benchmark design.
o Develop a streamlined process for database migrations.
o Design methodologies for data synchronization from operational data stores to a data warehouse across multiple database platforms and varied DBMS'.

Position Skill
84 Months: Candidate is 84 months experience in designing DB2 or IDMS database structures for enterprise systems able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.
84 months experience with application and SQL performance analysis and tuning
84 months experience with CICS Design
84 months experience with physical database design
84 months experience writing shell scripts
84 months experience maintaining logical and physical database designs with Erwin
84 months experience creating database standards and procedures
84 months experience performing database upgrades for DB2 or Oracle
