Job Summary
We’re seeking a proactive Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing operations across multiple branch locations. This role oversees inventory planning, vendor relations, and staff management to ensure efficient procurement and optimal stock levels. The ideal candidate has strong ERP and inventory management experience, excellent negotiation skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
- Plan, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate the purchasing activities of the company
- Monitor purchasing needs for min/max inventory levels using the current ERP system to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained. Independently place stocking orders, re-orders, and prepare purchase orders based on MRP generation.
- Develop and communicate purchasing policies and procedures
- Confer with other departments to coordinate purchasing activities
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork
- Independently place stocking orders, re-orders and prepare purchase orders based on MRP generation
- Confer with vendor contacts to obtain favorable and timely deliveries as well as the best possible pricing
- Respond to the various departments within the organization that may need information regarding vendors, products, deliveries, etc.
- Generate regularly scheduled open Purchase Order & Sales Order reports for all locations to enhance customer service levels Expedite orders when needed and update customer service & ERP system with timely and valid Information when necessary.
- Check all invoice discrepancies involving vendors in the area of responsibility
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Purchasing and inventory control experience
- Extensive purchasing and inventory management experience in the manufacturing/distribution industry. (Preferred)
- Certified purchasing agent certification (example: CPIM) (Preferred)
