Warehouse Associate Job Description:
Position Overview: The Forklift Operator will be responsible for storing, issuing, pulling, receiving, shipping, and conducting inventory reconciliation of all packaging and raw materials to and from dedicated production or warehouse areas. This position requires good organizational and communication skills and will be carried out in a warehouse manufacturing facility. The role may require operating power industrial trucks such as forklifts, cherry pickers, electric pallet jacks, and sit-down forklifts. Additionally, this position offers opportunities to learn technical aspects of the business and work closely with personnel in Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, Quality, and Accounting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to support additional departments based on department or business needs.
- Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) usage of packaging material.
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently while maintaining a valid certification.
- Label and store all supplies, retains, raw materials, and packaging components in designated storage areas.
- Coordinate the transfer of materials to and from operating facilities internally and externally.
- Lift 25-50 lbs regularly.
- Understand inventory control principles.
- Utilize RF Scanner for warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, staging, replenishment, and inventory cycle counts.
- Perform warehouse functions such as shipping, inventory, receiving, staging, prepping, and destruction as needed.
- Implement lean practices and demand flow strategies.
- Apply strong math skills in daily tasks.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks.
- Conduct cycle counting, root cause analysis, and results reporting.
- Remove trash from production and warehouse areas and dispose of it properly.
- Strategically locate items to reduce wasted motion and maximize space utilization.
- Utilize Excel to monitor operational objectives for KPI reporting.
- Maintain and verify all records of assigned operational duties.
- Conduct regular physical verification of inventory and account for variances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Forklift Certification required (with the ability to re-certify with employer).
- Valid driver’s license required.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide two-digit numbers.
- Ability to perform these operations using American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle materials, and communicate verbally.
- Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock risk.
- Frequent exposure to vibration.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold/heat, and moderate to loud noise levels.
