About The Role

Client is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and drive market expansion in general contracting and construction management services for water / wastewater treatment facilities . This role will focus on California-based business development strategies and best-in-class practices while collaborating with corporate and regional leadership.

The Business Development Manager will oversee CRM systems, identify new business opportunities, participate in strategic planning, and engage with clients at industry events and trade shows.

Essential Functions

Business Development Strategy & Execution

Support day-to-day business development operations , including CRM management, pursuit strategy, and budget planning .

  • Develop and implement best-in-class business development policies and processes .
  • Identify and position the company for new water / wastewater business opportunities through market research, client relationships, and industry events .
  • Coordinate with district leaders to ensure consistent implementation of business development strategies .

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

Participate in industry trade shows and conferences to identify new clients and business opportunities .

  • Maintain and strengthen client and industry relationships to enhance brand visibility and business prospects.
  • Serve as a key representative of Client's business development team in external meetings and events .
  • Proposal & Marketing Support

    Assist in proposal writing, strategic positioning, and campaign activities for project pursuits.

  • Work with the marketing team to develop marketing materials, presentations, and outreach tools .
  • Educate internal teams on the role of business development in the company's overall success.
  • CRM & Sales Operations

    Manage the CRM system , tracking multiple opportunities and client interactions .

  • Oversee opportunity pipeline tracking and reporting for leadership teams.
  • Ensure business development activities are aligned with budget and strategic goals .
  • Basic Qualifications

    Experience & Skills

    5 years of experience in business development, market research, and sales .

  • Proven track record of developing new business for water / wastewater projects .
  • Strong CRM system management experience.
  • Ability to handle complex, multi-discipline projects with fiscal responsibility .
  • Excellent communication, research, and negotiation skills .
  • Strong community engagement and networking abilities .
  • Education & Technical Knowledge

    Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Computer Science, or a related field .

  • Equivalent experience, skills, and training may be considered.
  • Soft Skills & Competencies

    Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple tasks .

  • Strong problem-solving, flexibility, and follow-up abilities.
  • Proficiency in business research, search engines, and CRM platforms .
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in water / wastewater infrastructure design or construction .
  • Strong network within the water / wastewater industry .
