Job Description
Requirements:
- Database Administrator responsible for technical support and management of the MS SQL Server environment for the division, including security and performance.
- Responsible for ongoing production and development databases, as well as, middleware support for SQL servers used throughout the division.
- Responsible for installing and administering MS SQL Server platform, database definition, structure, documentation, long and short range requirements, operational guidelines, data protection and logical-physical database design.
- Develop database queries, perform backup/recovery, tune database and create database schemas.
- Develop and implement stored procedures.
- Develop maintenance plans and scripts and migrate databases as necessary.
- Advocate and communicate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
- Provide database application support for individual users, software development teams and enterprise-wide applications and services used by the division engineering community.
- Develop trend and analysis reports indicating database growth and load to anticipate storage, CPU and memory needs.
Qualifications:
• BSCS, BSSE, BSIS, MSCS, MSSE or equivalent and 5-7 years of applicable experience.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server fundamentals and best practices.
Experience:
- Requires a broad IT background essential to IT problem solving and providing customer support.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies such as clustering, database mirroring, log shipping, and replication.
- Experience with DTS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, OLAP, MDX, data mapping and requirements definition.
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, 2008 Server and Storage Area Networks.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Leadership experience.
- Experience with other Database Management Systems such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Enterprise Data Warehousing knowledge/experience.
- Good organizational skills, good problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work with teams, individuals and suppliers to troubleshoot application and process problems.
- Customer focused, service-oriented, and capable of operating in a fast-paced environment yet remain focused on long-term organizational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, adapt to changing environments, and show attention to detail.
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCSE, MCITP).
- Willingness to embrace innovation and new technologies.
