Job Title : SCADA Support Engineer Consultant Location : New York City - Hybrid Type : Hourly Consulting Position. Rate based on experience. Job Overview We have a GREAT opportunity for a SCADA Support Engineer Consultant in New York City! This position involves the configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems. You will assist the client in implementing and executing processes to ensure consistent configuration and deployment of SCADA equipment, guaranteeing the system's availability, reliability, integrity, and usability. You will collaborate with client resources and third-party vendors to achieve SCADA project business goals, requiring strong expertise in SCADA architectures, cybersecurity, systems, and subsystems such as cellular modems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The role involves both office-based and fieldwork at industrial facilities, which may require safety gear. Some local travel within NYC and Westchester (up to 20%) is expected. Responsibilities Create and document repeatable processes to configure SCADA system components. Support the deployment of SCADA system components. Setup / configure / program full-featured cellular routers. Configure logic, control schemes, network, and communication paths for RTAC, RTUs, PLCs, and other SCADA equipment. Edit databases to prepare lists of location data for tracking. Troubleshoot SCADA system components and perform data analysis to evaluate system defects. Conduct and document root-cause analyses of newly deployed SCADA system failures. Interact with third-party vendors to procure already purchased parts or services. Maintain equipment inventory and track assets using client systems and MS Excel. Provide weekly progress updates and help the client track costs using inventory ledgers. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely SCADA deployments. Qualifications Required : Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with electric, gas, or water SCADA systems. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience configuring and testing SEL RTAC, RTUs, or PLCs for SCADA systems. Basic knowledge of SCADA communication data flow and protocols (RS-232, RS-485, TCP / IP, XMPP, DNP, SEL, etc.). Networking knowledge and troubleshooting experience. Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a teamwork-focused approach. Demonstrated ability to successfully complete highly visible projects with minimal guidance. Problem-solving skills and ability to handle tight deadlines and multitask. Desired : 3-5 years of hands-on experience configuring SEL RTAC and Digi Cellular Routers. 3-5 years of experience in power systems engineering and / or software development. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Experience in programming languages like C#, C , Python, or SQL. Familiarity with tools like ANT, CUnit, JUnit, FxCop, PREfast, OSI Pi, PowerBI, or Tableau. Source control experience with CVS, Git, or Subversion. Key Requirements : Hands-on experience configuring SEL 3505 or SEL 3505-3 RTAC. Hands-on experience configuring Digi WR-21 or Digi IX-20 Cellular Routers. All candidates must be authorized to legally work in the US without sponsorship.
