What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor of Sport Management - Tenure Track position at VTSU?
The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Vermont State University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Health and Exercise Science sport management and athletic leadership programs. The successful applicant will be competent to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in sport management and athletic leadership that might include Sport Finance and Budgeting, Sport Media and Communications, and Facility Design and Management, among others. The successful candidate would start in the Fall of 2025 (August).
Responsibilities:
Teaching load will average 24 credit hours or the equivalent per academic year. Some courses may be taught online. Other duties as assigned are anticipated and expected per department and program needs. Committee service, academic advising, and scholarly work are expected per faculty contract.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications include a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate students, and completion of an earned doctorate in sport management or a related field (degrees in progress may be considered) OR an MBA and seven years of significant experience in the field. Candidates for this position will be evaluated principally based on their potential to be outstanding teachers. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff are also essential. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence, scholarship, innovation in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and ongoing professional development.
