What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conferences and Events -Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Preferred) position at VTSU?
This position will report to the Assistant Director of Conferences & Events. These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Onsite event support for conferences, and events on campus.
- Onsite event support for the athletic camps, clinics, and competitions on campus.
- Assist in the physical setup of events on campus.
- Assist with residence halls’ setup for overnight clients.
- Assist with the hospitality and linen distribution.
- Inventory of linen and supplies.
- Creation of signage for each group.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. consistently, which requires lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, and twisting.
- Valid driver's license. Helpful but not required
- Experience with catering events, but not required.

- Attention to customer service, and satisfaction are essential. Ability to represent the department and University to outside groups.
- Work with a variety of people in a positive, professional and effective manner with those such as outside clients, interior and exterior vendors, administration, staff, faculty and students.
- Cheerful and helpful attitude.
- Working knowledge of office systems including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Publisher and Canva.
- Positive attitude, dependability and a sense of humor.
- Able and willing to work in a fast pace and sometimes physically demanding position.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, when necessary, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
