Vermont State University (VTSU) invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Nursing: teaching across the Practical Nursing (PN) Program and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program. Home location for this opportunity is VTSU Castleton campus. The PN and ADN Programs at VTSU are in the second year of transformation from legacy Vermont Technical College. We are excited to grow our faculty complement with new leadership and organizational structure.
There are several opportunities for new faculty to create a dynamic active learning environment for students. This is an in-person faculty position that will require the individual to teach both in the classroom and in clinical setting (agency, lab, and/or simulation). Faculty expectations are commensurate with the expectations outlined in the Faculty Federation Agreement and include demonstrating effective teaching and advising; engaging in scholarship and professional practice; and providing service to the University and the greater Vermont community.
Qualified candidates will be offered a tenure track position or a one-year terminal contract, renewable for up to three years based on the individual's years of full-time clinical nursing experience and years of full-time teaching in an accredited nursing program. Assigned rank as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, will also be based on this review.
Responsibilities to include:
1. Contributing to the professional learning environment in the classroom and in clinical rotations,
2. Encouraging student learning and retention, consistent with the Student Learning Outcomes and Course Objectives, nurturing an environment focused on providing the highest quality of care to patients,
3. Evaluating student acquisition of nursing competence,
4. Participating in the implementation, evaluation and revision of the nursing curriculum and relevant policies,
5. Serving as an academic adviser to students across the program, 6. Participating in assigned roles in the Department of Nursing standing committees,
7. Demonstrating continued professional development in the areas of nursing and nursing education commensurate with their assigned roles,
8. Collaborating with healthcare partners across the state of Vermont,
9. Complying with the policies outlined by Vermont State College system, Vermont State University, and the Department of Nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. An unencumbered Vermont Registered Nurse license,
2. Master's of Science in Nursing, or enrollment in MSN Program,
3. A minimum of two years full-time, or the equivalent of, acute care nursing experience,
4. Commitment to the Mission and Vision of Vermont State University and the Department of Nursing,
5. Commitment to the integration of technology, including, simulation across the curriculum,
6. Knowledge of processes related to NLN-CNEA Accreditation,
7. Occasional travel to other campus sites and/or clinical agencies in the region.
Teaching load will average 24 credit hours or the equivalent per academic year, in medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric mental health, pediatric nursing, and/or maternal child health disciplines.
Salary:
Based on qualifications and experience as defined by VSC-VSCFF Bargaining Unit Agreement; no less than $52,500 per annum plus benefits.
