ONLINE PROGRAM ENROLLMENT SPECIALIST Grade 12
VSC UP –PAT Bargaining Unit Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION
Online Program Enrollment Specialists provide services primarily to recruit, evaluate, admit, and enroll qualified applicants to Vermont State University’s online programs.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Disseminate informational materials to prospective students through audience-appropriate communications/presentations both virtually and through digital platforms.
• Conduct outreach to prospective students and respond to inquiries and requests for information in a timely manner via phone, email, and other digital communication tools. Input new and prospective student contact information and any necessary notes into CRM. Follow up with contacts and prospective students as outlined by communication plans.
• Review and evaluate applications and transcripts, including preliminary evaluation of transfer credits, interview prospective students, provide general admission and enrollment advisement with a designated prospective student population
• Manage an assigned population of students by type or academic interest and a recruitment plan including developing and maintaining relationships with schools and organizations, attend college fairs, classroom presentations and other recruitment events
• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special online outreach events, including virtual open houses, regional events, counselor events, and other group visit opportunities.
• Assist with travel recruitment efforts for campus-based students, including attending college fairs, high school visits, and other off-campus events to engage prospective students as needed.
• Work with campus partners to support online program enrollment initiatives
• Collaborate with operations staff, academic department and admissions leadership to ensure smooth, positive, and transparent applicant to student experience.
• Keep abreast of current Vermont State University programs, policies and procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from the Associate Director of Admissions/Team Lead.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree student personnel services or other appropriate discipline desirable, plus one to three years of relevant admissions experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and
skills are acquired.
• Current, valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Willing to work a flexible/non-traditional schedule.
• Willingness to travel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge:
• Strong knowledge of admissions operations; previous VSC experience desirable.
• Specialized knowledge and skills related to specific areas of responsibility.
• Commitment to developing own professional knowledge and the professional knowledge of team members regarding diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice and how it informs practices within area of expertise
Skills:
• Excellent customer service, public speaking and interpersonal skills required
• Strong planning, administrative and organizational skills
• Ability to deal effectively with high school students, parents, school counselors, students/faculty/staff/alumni, and others, requiring group speaking skills, individual interviewing/advising skills
• Knowledge of web-based CRM, preferably Slate
Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives, cultures and an inclusive environment
• Ability to use data-informed decision making to inform resource allocation, processes
and procedures.
