What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Sustainability Coordinator -Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Preferred) position at VTSU?
The Student Sustainability Coordinator coordinates the EcoReps. The student EcoReps are a major asset to the Green Campus Initiative by acting as a liaison between the campus, the residents, and everything that is green. EcoReps will help foster that input, participation, and enthusiasm among students via facilitation and promote educational programming as well as informal meetings and discussions. They will also work alongside RAs within the halls. EcoReps will play a vital role in the campus recycling program, a large success of the Green Campus Initiative.
• Student Sustainability Coordinator responsibilities:
• Leader of the student run recycling program
• Coordinates with Facilities in recycling efforts
• Meets with the EcoReps helping to coordinate student projects
• Liaison between the EcoReps and the Campus Sustainability Team
• EcoRep duties such as running their own sustainability projects
• Must live on campus & meet at least once per semester with the Residence Life staff
• Participate in weekly recycling in designated campus locations
• Inventory recycling bins in designated campus locations
• Record amount of trash and recycling from designated locations
• Assess the recycling practices in your designated campus locations
• Plan & implement one green program per year individually, or with other EcoReps (2 small programs per semester or 1 large program per year)
• Work with CAs to publicize green campaigns/events facilitated by the Campus Sustainability Team and Sustainability Club
• Assess and propose a plan to enhance recycling in a minimum of one residence hall (recommended)
• Liaison between students and Campus Sustainability Team for student needs/ideas.
• Other tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Student Sustainability Coordinator must have been an EcoRep for at least one semester, live on campus and be interested in environmental issues and sustainability, motivated to make a difference among peers, capable of working independently and in team settings, responsible, organized and creative.
