Job Purpose
The Server/Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional dining and beverage service in a restaurant or hospitality setting. This role involves taking food and drink orders, preparing and serving beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate is attentive, knowledgeable about menu offerings, and works collaboratively with the kitchen and bar staff to create a positive guest experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position reports to the Vue Restaurant Manager and includes the following tasks:
- Greet guests warmly, guide them to their tables, and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Present menus, answer questions, and make recommendations on food and beverages.
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently, using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and customer preferences.
- Ensure timely delivery of food and beverages while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Check on guests throughout their experience, addressing any concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Process guest payments accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of dining and bar areas, including restocking supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by wiping down surfaces, sweeping, and removing used glassware.
- Ensure the bar is stocked with ice, liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, and other necessary supplies.
- Change kegs, check taps and appliances for proper functionality, and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Learn and memorize menu items, cocktail recipes, and food pairings to enhance the guest experience.
- Engage with customers, answer questions, handle complaints professionally, and promote specials.
- Monitor and report inventory levels to assist in reordering and proper storage of delivered items.
Qualifications
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capable of carrying trays with food and beverages weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift items above shoulder level.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Previous experience in restaurant service, bartending, or hospitality.
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification.
- SERV Safe Certification.
- Alcohol RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) Training.
- Knowledge of food and beverage pairings and cocktail preparation.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The Server/Bartender role requires standing, walking, and actively engaging with guests throughout the shift. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are essential for handling trays, glassware, and preparing drinks. The position involves approximately 70% standing, 20% walking, and 10% customer interaction in a fast-paced environment.
