What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Manager position at Vulcan Industrial Contractors Co.?
The Payroll Manager oversees all payroll functions for the Company including weekly and semi-monthly payrolls, tax filings, and associated reports. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate payroll processing, tax compliance, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Manage payroll processing, including per diems, third-party sick pay, fringe and deductions, and new tax setup.
- Payroll Taxes: Oversee the payment of federal withholding taxes and employer FICA taxes weekly, as well as state withholding and state unemployment insurance, and quarterly payroll taxes.
- Posting: Supervise posting and balancing to the general ledger.
- Union Reporting: Handle union alumni agreements.
- 401k: Act as the administrator of the 401k plan.
- OCIP and Certified Payroll Reporting: Manage OCIP and certified payroll reporting.
- Year-End Reporting: Accrue final week's payroll, compile and file all W-2s, and file ACA reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; BS in accounting or finance preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience handling and processing payroll with a high volume of activity.
- Union experience is desirable.
- Experience with SAGE 300 CRE accounting software is a plus.
