Job Purpose
As a Senior Director, Operations at Arwood Machine, a VulcanForms Company., Newburyport, MA, you will lead the Manufacturing Operations Team and interface with other functions to meet our customer's needs. You will establish long-term objectives and guidelines for managing and monitoring cell performance and productivity. You will direct the scheduling and sequencing of work and product innovation to optimize production. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in all aspects of manufacturing operations, health and safety regulations, and developing their team to achieve the highest standards while fostering a safe, communicative, accountable, and mission driven work culture.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide leadership in all manufacturing activities, including but not limited to planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost.
- Managing multiple product lines, leading synchronization between the various production units, real-time capacity planning, and the ability to change schedules as necessary to meet the production plan.
- Coordinate and manage resources to meet current and future customer requirements, including people, material, and capital.
- Direct activities throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with leadership to build a mission driven environment of collective responsibility, communication, and accountability.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing and other areas of the company.
- Establishes, communicates, & ensures compliance with key performance objectives to meet business and customer expectations.
- Lead both equipment and labor performance and productivity initiatives.
- Must analyze and evaluate risks throughout organizational processes with appropriate contingency planning to mitigate risks.
- Proactively work with Human Resources to support all company initiatives and people development expectations.
- Develop and mentor direct reports to ensure high performance, competence, and behavior consistent with the company's values and culture.
Qualifications
- 10 years in a manufacturing management role
- Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and experience applying principles such as GEMBA, leader standard work, value stream mapping, and problem-solving
- Proven track record of managing supervisors and leading cross-functional, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, forecasting and planning, and driving performance excellence.
- Experience with ERP and Maintenance planning tools
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
