Basic Job Functions:
The Sales Estimator’s primary responsibility is to maximize the long-term success of Nucor by efficiently performing accurate joist & deck takeoffs to create high-quality sales proposals, while also effectively communicating with engineers, customers, and teammates to develop value-added solutions. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the assigned sales office and taking an ownership role with the bid process is critical to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Compensation Data
Starting compensation for this role ranges from $21.11 to $32.74 per hour and is eligible to earn monthly commission and annual division earned Profit Sharing bonus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic construction experience or knowledge.
- Willingness and ability to work more than 40 hours per week, when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP, and NuBid
- Two or four year degree in business, sales, marketing, construction management, engineering, or related field
- Two years of experience in the steel and/or construction industry
- Mobility for future advancement opportunities within Nucor
- Experience reading structural drawings and project specifications, as well as a general understanding of the construction process
