GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Collections & Recovery Support Specialist is a versatile and proactive position, providing essential support to the Collections and Recovery departments. This role requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of credit union operations. The primary responsibility of the Collections & Recovery Support Specialist is to assist in various tasks related to collections and recovery, ensuring efficient operations and timely resolution of accounts in default.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years collections, repossession, or recovery related experience

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to negotiate effectively and maintain professional composure in challenging situations.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:
This job requires the employee to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Infrequent lifting up to 25 lbs.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must comply with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and the Regulation F requirements for collections.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:
- Maintains post repossession files through timely follow up and posting of all cancelled Optional Product refunds.
- Prepares account files for collection agency referral and processes any media requests. .
- Processes ChexSystems disputes.
- Generates and distributes Collection/Recovery reporting.
- Assists with the repossession process while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Tasks include but are not limited to; handling repossession notices, reviewing accounts and determining appropriate course of action, managing assets and the disposition, and filing claims.
- Assists with the bankruptcy process while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Tasks include but are not limited to the following: updating accounts to reflect the appropriate bankruptcy status, serving as a primary point of contact for bankruptcy attorneys, trustees, and Members, collaborating with legal counsel to handle complex legal matters and seek guidance on bankruptcy-related issues, and preparing/filing proof of claims and reaffirmation agreements.
- Assists with the collections/recovery process while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Tasks include but are not limited to the following: communicating with Members to resolve delinquent accounts, skip tracing to locate Members/assets, posting recovery payments, and processing hardship assistance requests.
- Provides administrative assistance to the Collections and Recovery departments to include tasks such as mail processing, data entry, file maintenance, and document preparation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary range is $18.74 - $24.59/hour. Job Grade, NE 9. Final salary is dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications.
