Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Vytal is responsible for empowering the manufacturing engineering team and serving as a champion by providing expert guidance and support within a dynamic Center of Excellence (CoE) model. The incumbent will oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The Manager will ensure the team's success, promote a collaborative work environment, and maintain adherence to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
• Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of new manufacturing processes and equipment. Analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement optimization strategies. Oversee the technical aspects of new product launches, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
• Process Development and Optimization: Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
• Health and Safety: Ensure that all engineering projects, new equipment installations, process enhancements, and technology upgrades comply with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Project Management: Manage engineering projects from initiation to completion, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and take corrective actions.
• Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Integration: Lead the engineering integration of manufacturing processes and systems during business mergers and acquisitions. Ensure technical alignment and seamless transition of manufacturing operations, standards, and practices between merging entities. Identify and implement engineering best practices from both organizations to optimize process efficiency and performance.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulations throughout the manufacturing process. Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Monitor key quality metrics and report on performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving measures in manufacturing processes. Analyze production data to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste. Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, health & safety and quality assurance, to develop and implement new products or processes. Work with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
• Equipment and Technology Management: Manage and oversee the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiency.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including operations, production, quality, and sales to ensure alignment and smooth project execution. Present technical information to senior management and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role. Demonstrated experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and project management. Knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment.
Additional Requirements:
• Certifications: P.Eng. or P.E. designation is highly desirable. Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma, PMP (Project Management Professional), or Lean Manufacturing are preferred.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant software tools (CAD, PLM, data analysis). Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other engineering tools.
• Travel: Travel within Canada and internationally, including frequent travel to the United States.
