What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Service Technician position at W.D. Matthews Machinery Co.?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Shop Service Technician repairs forklifts and various other equipment that W.D. Matthews Machinery Co. sells and services at an onsite W.D. Matthews shop location. The equipment that a Shop Service Technician is expected to maintain and repair includes, but is not limited to; gas, diesel, propane and electric powered material handling equipment as well as aerial lift and manlift equipment. The Shop Service Technician position reports directly to the Field Service Manager and operates with a technician team. The Shop Service Technician will coordinate with and work directly under the supervision of the Shop Service Manager to complete orders in an organized and timely manner. This position requires mechanical experience and interest and / or related skills. The Shop Service Technician must have basic mechanical and technical experience, preferably at least two years. Corrective and preventative forklift maintenance experience is very desirable, but candidates with other mechanical repair experience in a variety of areas is considered. General computer experience is needed to run diagnostic and other programs. In addition, Vocational Tech education with a focus in the automotive, equipment, or hydraulics is preferred.
