Position: Spanish Teacher, Crew Leader
W. E. B. Du Bois Regional Middle School
W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced Spanish teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the Spanish language and culture and will be dedicated to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment for middle school students. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering an environment of respect and curiosity toward language learning.
Requirements:
Massachusetts Teaching Certificate or Certifiable.
(Must hold a valid teaching certification in Massachusetts or have the eligibility to obtain one)
Qualifications:
College Degree in the general area of assignment. Demonstrated experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and constructively with students, colleagues, and families in the development and delivery of child-centered instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in language teaching, including proficiency-based instruction and comprehensible input (or acquisition-driven instruction). Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into lessons effectively. Demonstrated knowledge of, concern for, and ability to work with students of varying needs, talents and abilities. Demonstrated experience working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Demonstrated experience living or traveling in Spanish-speaking countries. Willingness to participate in extracurricular activities related to language and culture (e.g., Spanish club, cultural events, field trips). High fluency in the Spanish Language preferred. Other qualifications as established by the District. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver Spanish language lessons to middle school students (Grades 7-8) aligned with Comprehensible Input curriculum standards. Foster an inclusive and respectful classroom environment where all students can thrive. Assess and monitor student progress through regular assignments, quizzes, and projects using proficiency-based grading. Provide feedback to students and parents on academic performance and areas for improvement. Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and resources, including technology, games, and hands-on activities. Promote an appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Collaborate with fellow faculty members and participate in school meetings and professional development activities. Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies. -Support students’ emotional and academic growth.
