Qualifications
- Masters in Education, Educational Leadership or similar field
Certifications
- Certificate 040: Building Administrator Grades PK-12
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- Personnel
- Supervises and assists the professional and non-professional staff members in the performance of their responsibilities.
- Reports to the appropriate District administrators regarding the needs of the school and district.
- Assists in the recruitment and retention of highly skilled staff members.
- Evaluates staff for the purpose of improvement of instruction and contract renewal.
- Recommends to the Superintendent the assignment, promotion, retention, or dismissal of staff.
- Provides orientation and support to new and beginning staff at the school and district level.
- Curriculum/Instruction
- Assists in studying the instructional and curriculum needs of Mt. Blue RSD and helping develop plans and action steps for meeting them.
- Demonstrates leadership for the general school program to meet Mt. Blue RSD community needs.
- Assists and supervises the instructional staff in the development and implementation of curriculum and of student activities.
- Uses resources of the school system and the community when focused on school and district goals in developing an effective educational program.
- Provides for coordination of programs between grades and with other schools in the district and during student transitions.
- Site Based Management
- Develops and administers the school's budgeted allocations.
- Provides for a system of open communication among the professional and non-professional staff.
- Plans and constructs a schedule for the effective daily operation of the school by working with other administrators as necessary for shared staff.
- Supervises daily activities and school sponsored functions.
- Reports to District administration regarding the needs of the school for equipment and supplies.
- Develops and maintains a climate where mutual respect and cooperation is demonstrated among students, staff, and administrators.
- Students
- Assists in the development of procedures assuring the appropriate placement of students in the school district.
- Develops a process for positively recognizing student accomplishments.
- Parent and Community Involvement
- Keeps the public informed in order to further the community's understanding and support of the educational program.
- Schedules conferences with teachers, parents, and students whenever it is necessary.
- Other Administrative Responsibilities
- Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.
- Prepares such reports as may be required.
- Acts as an active member of the District Administrative Team.
- Serves on, and may provide leadership for, the various committees that develop district programs.
- Serves on local and state professional organizations, as appropriate.
- Participates in Individualized Education Program Meetings (IEPs)
- Attends Mt. Blue RSD Board of Directors meetings as assigned.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent may assign.
Experience
- Experience as a an elementary principal or in a leadership postion prefered.
- Contracted July 1 - June 30 annually under the Administrative Collective Bargaining Agreement
- 260 days with sick, vacation & personal leave available
- Travel between schools or district buildings may be required at times
Supervises: The principal supervises professional and non-professional staff members, in accordance with District policy.
Reports To: Superintendent of Schools
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
FLSA Status: Exempt
