Job Summary:
General Laborers will assist Craft Journeyman and Craft Helpers by performing support tasks on construction projects such as erecting, wrecking, repairing, maintenance, and janitorial functions. Considered entry level.
Overview of Primary Duties:
- Prepares site for daily work and performs all housekeeping and duties necessary for daily activities.
- Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
- Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Assisting build and positioning forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
- Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Act as a watch when welding or metal cutting is performed by craft workers.
- Expedited materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites.
- Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various janitorial activities
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

- Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.
- Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.

Qualifications:
Level II:
- Six (6) to eighteen (18) months of heavy industrial-related experience
- Completed Yates Safety Training for Fire Watch and/or Hole Watch Level I:
- No experience to six (6) months of heavy industrial-related experience
Requirements:
- The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience
- Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List
- Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

- Ability to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
- Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
- Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
- Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
