Job Title: FOREMAN Road, Bridge, and Site Development

Job Summary:
The Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of civil construction projects, including road and bridge construction, mass grading, site preparation, infrastructure development, and drainage work. This position entails supervising on-site operations, managing field personnel, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining detailed project records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of soil behavior, material application, and construction best practices to ensure the durability and quality of completed projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Coordination: Plan, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of crews involved in road construction, bridge maintenance, mass grading, site development, underground utilities, and drainage system installation.
- Personnel Management: Lead, train, and evaluate employees, promoting a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Project Execution: Conduct on-site inspections to monitor work progress, assess project needs, and ensure adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
- Site and Material Knowledge: Apply expertise in soils, compaction, erosion control, and material selection to guide construction and ensure structural integrity.
- Equipment Oversight: Monitor the use, maintenance, and repair of heavy machinery and equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, crew hours, equipment usage, material deliveries, and site conditions.
- Client and Public Interaction: Respond to public inquiries and concerns with professionalism; coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors as needed.
- Budget Management: Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets; monitor project costs to ensure financial accountability.
- Emergency Response: Participate in or coordinate emergency and weather-related response operations, ensuring proper personnel and equipment deployment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications in construction management preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in road and bridge construction, earthwork/grading, utility installation, and drainage systems. Supervisory experience is essential.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in reading plans and specifications. Familiarity with construction documentation and reporting tools.
- Licenses: Class A and B Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL) recommended; certifications in OSHA safety practices preferred.
Work Environment:
- Schedule: Full-time position with flexibility for overtime, night shifts, and emergency response.
