Job Title: General Superintendent
Location: Nashville, TN
Job Summary:
The General Superintendent oversees the overall construction plan for the project in conjunction with the Project Manager and/or Executive. Provides the vision for project planning, coordination, sequencing, and site utilization. As a leader, the General Superintendent is responsible for all day-to-day jobsite activities to include personnel, financials, safety, scheduling, and quality.
Primary Duties:

Implementing a high level of understanding of MEP types and respective risk factors
-
Providing high level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members
-
Managing the QC component of the project
-
Providing oversight on facilitating equipment for project site (cranes, trailers, trucks, etc.)
-
Overseeing weekly work activities for trade crews
-
Understanding and utilizing various types of project contract documents, specifications, and drawings
-
Ensuring as-built working drawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log and revision log and communicates this to the subcontractors.

Developing scopes of work for trades
-
Performing constructability reviews
-
Leading meetings with owners and design partners for the project
-
Meeting with multiple trade partners and principals of the project
-
Evaluating field progress against the plan, developing recovery plans, if necessary

Leading toolbox talks/briefings
-
Managing all phases of the construction process including documenting and reporting site activities and progress
-
Managing the site with current phased Job Site Utilization Plans
-
Coordinating and scheduling the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and through project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.

Conducting preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work
-
Participating in the development and management of a CPM schedule to include short- term look ahead to ensure trades are appropriately engaged in project execution.

Provides guidance and overview of Site Superintendent, look ahead scheduling and planning.

Planning logistics, crane plans, direction of construction and overall path to project completion.

Setting and implementing production plan including manpower and personnel needs onsite.

Reviewing and verifying quantity takeoffs and materials management process during the buyout process for specific scopes of work

Tracking project phase completion against milestones

Leading preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work.

Understanding financial impact and risks allows for the integration of cost-effective solutions when needed, including but not limited to VE.

Managing the completion of project close-out

Managing punch list items and procedures

Managing of project permit process
-
Mentoring and managing timely performance evaluation of direct reports

Representing Yates in interviews and/or presentations
-
Fostering and enhancing owner, architect, subcontractor, and vendor relations

Ensuring strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements throughout the project

Qualifications:
-
An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is desirable.

Other relevant education, training or work experience may substitute for bachelors degree.

Minimum of twelve (12) years industry experience
-
Experience managing projects valued at or above $1MM.
Requirements:

Strong understanding of planning and scheduling

Strong knowledge of complex MEP types

Strong knowledge of business and/or financial principles to project and monitor expenses.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel

Ability to understand and utilize technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions and engineering/architectural drawings.
