Job Summary:
The Superintendents role is to effectively monitor, direct, and coordinate all field operations for heavy civil construction projects. This includes overseeing safety, schedule, quality of work, and budget. The Superintendent must be an exceptional leader and communicator, serving as a mentor to junior-level team members.
Primary Duties:
- Coordinate work with project owner representatives, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors.
- Direct the work of all trades assigned to the construction site.
- Schedule and coordinate the work activities of direct hire tradespeople, professionals, and laborers.
- Conduct preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors before beginning each phase of work.
- Plan workforce and personnel needs.
- Lead toolbox talks/briefings.
- Manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members.
- Oversee and manage equipment for the project site , including timely mobilization and demobilization to support project needs.
- Oversee weekly work activities for trades.
- Utilize project contract documents and specifications.
- Develop and maintain the site logistics plan.
- Perform constructability reviews.
- Evaluate field progress against the plan and develop recovery plans if needed.
- Manage the completion of project close-out and punch list items.
- Lead coordination meetings.
- Participate in owner meetings.
- Develop and manage a CPM schedule, including short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Review and verify quantity takeoffs and materials management during the buyout process.
- Track project phase completion against milestones.
- Demonstrate core values and principles.

Safety Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Refuse unsafe work and conduct all work in accordance with established safety procedures and work practices.
- Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards.
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment.

- Participate in workplace inspections.

Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred. Relevant education, training, or work experience may substitute for a bachelors degree.
- Minimum of six (6) years of industry experience.
- Experience managing self-performed and direct hire workers
- Strong understanding of planning and scheduling.
- Strong understanding of business and financial principles to project and monitor budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions, and engineering/architectural drawings.
