Job Title: I & E Inspector
We are seeking a skilled I & E (Instrumentation and Electrical) Inspector to join our team. This role will be responsible for inspecting/testing instrumentation and electrical systems, equipment and components to ensure compliance with codes, specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test the installation and operation of instrumentation and electrical (I&E) systems, equipment, and components to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and standards.
- Verify that all I&E work is performed according to established quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures.
- Review and interpret I&E engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure clarity and accuracy of installation.
- Conduct routine surveillance and spot checks on ongoing I&E work to identify any deviations from quality standards and specifications.
- Oversee 3rd party performed calibrations, functional, and loop testing of instrumentation systems to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Coordinate with construction and engineering teams to resolve any I&E related issues and discrepancies identified during inspections.
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports on the status of I&E QA/QC activities, including non-conformities and corrective actions taken.
- Ensure that all necessary testing equipment and tools are available, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
- Witness and validate the testing and commissioning of I&E systems prior to final acceptance and handover.
- Collaborate with safety personnel to ensure that all I&E work is conducted in a safe manner and adheres to safety standards.
- Manage and maintain inspection records and quality assurance documentation to support project quality records and certification packages.
- Gather records for quality Turnover Package Submission.
- Attend required and refresher training related to company requirements.
- Must comply with all safety and company rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- Must have offshore experience on production platforms and knowledge of offshore components and end devices that are installed on them.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation engineering principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&ID's, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASME, NEMA, API, and NEC.
- Experience with inspection of electrical and instrumentation installations, including wiring, switchgear, control panels, and associated equipment.
- Proficiency in using various measurement and test equipment for electrical and instrumentation inspection.
- Ability to manage and maintain inspection documentation and quality records.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address quality issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with project teams and contractors.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
- Knowledge of ISO.
Required Experience & Education:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in QA/QC role within the industrial, oil & gas, or petrochemical sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or related Engineering field, preferred but not required.
- Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent quality inspection certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Working in a manufacturing environment (fabrication, assembly, and coating)
- Travel to vendor sites offshore.
- Climbing into and traversing through unfinished modular buildings.
- Complying with supplier HSE requirements.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard.
- Capable of swing rope transfer offshore and HUET or THUET certified or can be certified.
