In-House Attorney
This role reports directly to the General Counsel.
While drafting, negotiating and advising regarding commercial construction contracts will be a primary responsibility, you will also serve as a legal generalist and be directly involved in advising the company on complex and challenging issues, as well as managing claims and outside counsel.
The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing business environment. The candidate must also be able to operate independently and be a self-starter while also working collaboratively and proactively with a broad array of personnel, including our companys senior leadership. Exceptional judgment, business acumen, the ability to communicate clearly and strong relationship building skills are required. Litigation experience and knowledge of its requirements in the areas of personal injury and construction disputes are necessary.
Job Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and manage a wide variety of construction contracts with owners, subcontractors and suppliers and other vendors.
- Support the General Counsel in preparing correspondence regarding all aspects of legal and construction activities.
- Develop and maintain standard policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
- Advise senior leadership on practical and pragmatic ways to efficiently manage risk.
- Develop and communicate policies and procedures in companywide meetings and writings; train teams on legal issues.
- Assist on legal matters impacting the Company as necessary.
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel and litigation to ensure effective representation and alignment with company objectives; coordinate with insurance carriers on covered claims.
- Negotiate with outside parties on contractual issues, personal injuries and other legal disputes, including at settlement conferences and mediations.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within and outside the organization and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
- Strong leadership, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills, and ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.Sense of humor is a plus.
Salary : $150,000 - $190,000
